Human Rights Organizations Warn Over Raising Civilian Casualties In Afrin

Democracy Center for Human Rights in Kurdistan (DCHRK) and DAD Center, two human rights organizations made a statement on Monday and asked International Human rights organizations to “Put pressure in Turkey” to stop attacking Syrian Kurdish areas immediately.

It has been ten days that Turkish army and its backed militias known as Free Syrian Army (FSA) started an air and ground operation against Syrian Kurds, which tens of civilians have been killed and wounded so far..

DCHRK and DAD strongly condemn using German Leopard 2A4 Tanks provided to Turkey in the operation.

Two villagers from Khalil Village in Shya were killed on January 28 by the German (Leopard 2A4) tanks given to Turkey while they were about to enter their village.

Afrin City

Ten civilian were killed and 26 more wounded on Sunday, January 29. Also eight civilians were killed and seven more wounded In Gobel village of Sherawa, while ten more civilian are still under ruin.

15 fighters of People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Women Protection Units (YPJ) who have been killed defending Afrin were buried today.

A Camerawoman of YPJ was also wounded while covering the Turkish attack on Afrin.

DCHRK and DAD strongly ask International human rights organizations to put pressure on Turkey to stop its attack on Syrian Kurdish areas immediately as well as enforcing a No Fly Zone to stop further airstrikes by Turkey.
